How I Work

The foundation of my counselling and therapy therapeutic approach is Person-Centred Therapy, where I offer the core conditions of empathy, non-judgement and unconditional positive regard, to support you in working through your issues.  I also work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is a more directive approach in making changes to unhelpful thoughts, feelings or behaviours you may be experiencing.  Additionally, I have training and a specialist interest in third wave CBT practices, such as Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness.

I provide a free consultation, where we will discuss what you wish to gain from our counselling and therapy sessions and how we may work together to achieve this.  This will also give us the opportunity to establish if we would work well together, before you commit to therapy.  There is strong evidence that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is the main attribute towards a positive outcome in counselling and therapy.
