As a qualified psychotherapist, the foundation of my therapeutic approach is rooted in Humanistic Therapy. I offer empathy, non-judgement and unconditional positive regard in a safe supportive space, to support you in exploring and working through your issues.
Following the completion of a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, I also work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where this may be suitable. This can be a more directive approach in making changes to unhelpful thoughts, feelings or behaviours you may be experiencing.
Additionally, I am currently undertaking further training in the third wave CBT approaches, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I provide an initial free 20 minute face to face or telephone consultation, where we will discuss what you wish to gain from your therapy sessions and how we may work together to achieve this. This will also give us the opportunity to establish if we would work well together, before you commit to therapy. There is strong evidence that the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client is the main attribute towards a positive outcome in counselling and therapy.
